Abstract

This study explored the impact of transformational and transactional leadership on middle-manager performance when resilience plays a mediating role in the relationship. This study reviewed different studies that have tested this relationship. Data were collected from a sample of 443 employees (middle-management post, between 30 and 55 years of age). The sample responded to a survey that included three scales: leadership, resilience, and performance.

The second part of the methodology confirmed the statistical findings with groups of the respondents using Participatory Learning and Action (PLA) and focused group discussion. The analysis indicated that resilience was found to partially mediate the relationship between transformational and transactional leadership and performance
