Abstract
The exchange of information between the different organizations in the different stages of a building’s life cycle has always been an important and difficult task at the same time. In each project, there are a vast number of participants with different views of the same physical structure who have to interact and exchange information throughout the whole building life cycle. In CAD data exchange, the product modeling and information exchange standards community have developed several times known as “Building Information Models” or “BIMs” in order to enable a more coherent exchange of data. Plug-in program have been created in order to create an invincible piece of software. Plug-in program help to improve the efficiency of the original program by making sub-programs strengthen the weaknesses in the original program and completing the original program if there was an uncompleted part in order to help the user complete their job by using one software and its plug-ins. In this paper, the researchers will conduct a comparison between the efficiency of one of the most popular program of BIM software, which is called the Archicad program, and the ArchiStair plug-in. The comparison was made in order to evaluate the efficiency of Archicad software and the efficiency of its plug-ins. This study revealed that drawing stairs using the Archicad program did not work as expected and that the plug-in is needed and basically cannot be dispensable.
