Abstract

May 1948 Nakba resulted in the expulsion and massacre of Palestinians. However, the Zionist hegemonic narrative falsifies history and denies these atrocities. 15th May 1948, the Nakba Day, is actually altered to be the Israeli Declaration of Independence. Falsifying history, the Zionist grand narrative has so far altered the entire history Palestine and the Palestinians. Unfortunately, this falsification and history alteration is also echoed in some elitist male dominated Palestinian/Arab metanarrative which misrepresents the Nakba. Therefore, there is an urgent need for a Palestinian/Arab counter-hegemonic Nakba narrative that consequently resists the Zionist grand narrative, defies the Palestinian/Arab metanarrative and foregrounds the marginalised Palestinians’ voice. Thus, the aim of this paper is to critically analyse the Palestinian-Jordanian Ibrahim Nasrallah’s Time of White Horses (2007) as an exemplary literary work of Nakba narrative that resists the Zionist grand narrative, defies the Palestinian/Arab metanarrative and emerges as authentic Palestinian fellahin [peasants] Nakba narrative.
