Abstract
Massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems, in combination with beamforming antenna array technologies and mm-Wave, are projected to play a crucial role in the enhancement of 5 G wireless communication systems as they can provide high data rates, an increase in the channel capacity, as well as low interference. The primary goal of this paper is to discuss the most advantageous types of beamforming techniques that can be used in mm-wave massive MIMO systems, as well as to clarify the importance of beamforming techniques in massive MIMO systems. Additionally, this paper discusses the challenges that face the development of 5 G networks and how to overcome these challenges. Finally, a simulation hybrid-beamforming technique is presented, and its spectral efficiency is compared with analog beamforming, and with the single user system. Results show that the Hybrid-beamforming system has the best performance in mm-wave massive MIMO systems while also serving the needs of next-generation wireless communication systems. © 2025 IEEE.
