Abstract
This study was initilated to.constraing the geological Istructurc ithes Chadames Basitin forthwest Libya. Detailed analysis was based on digita int rofsur face data, including SRTM. DEM,ETM+ and geologic maps subsurface data. including well Iogs and potential field dat. Integtated analysis of remotely sensed data of the SRTM and EM wetet utilized to.s identilygeologiclineamentsinthe area.Ground-based verification ofthes remote sensing data was achievrd with feld worle. Interpretation and analysis of the lineaments Indtcate that the Chadames Basin iS controlled by four main fault: systems that trend WNW. NNW, NW. and ENE Well logs and potential field data were used to delineate ac det.ailed picture of the subsurface structure. The potentia feld data reveal two NEand NNE Uending sedimentary basins. The depth of the basement inside the main basin rnces from 2to6km. > two-dimensional (2-D)schematic model shows that thebasin, graduallys deepens towards the southwest. The appliled data integration.gave new insight into the tectonic cand structure Datterns of the Ghadames Basin, and the adjacent areas of s northwest Libya.
