Abstract
Images obtained from space are most suitable to geologic investigations of fthe a g Arab World, particularly because of the folowing reasons: (1) the area represents the largest desert belt on e earth that is often free of clouds and easily photographed from above; (2) each photograph from space covers large area and allows the study of regional patterns; and (3) due to the carcity or lack of vegetation, such photographs clearly depict the structure f the land and indicate the composition of the exposed rocks, soils and sands.
