Abstract

This chapter explores the intersection of creativity in education with digital twins and generative AI (GenAI), highlighting their potential to transform teaching and learning. Building on theories from influential educators, such as Vygotsky and Gardner, we discuss how advances in digital technology enhance human–computer collaboration and position creativity as a sociocultural act shaped by interactions between humans and artificial agents. As part of the digital revolution, the narrative of education emphasises essential skills for successful citizenship, known as twenty-first-century skills, which include creativity, communication, collaboration, and critical thinking. This chapter argues that creativity is not just a personal trait but a cultivable competency fostered through engagement with digital environments. We examine how GenAI and digital twins can improve creative learning experiences, enabling personalised growth and collaborative creativity with AI as a partner. Strategies for nurturing a culture of creativity in education are discussed, along with the challenges and opportunities these technologies present. Finally, we suggest future trends in creativity, digital twins, and GenAI, redefining the creative potential of learners and educators.
